DOC Manitoba which represents professional filmmakers and documentary companies, and Film Training Manitoba (FTM) have partnered to launch the new DEEP DIVE Program to support workforce development in Manitoba’s film industry.
DOC MB and FTM’s DEEP DIVE Program will be a combination of in-class training sessions, a masterclass, mentorships as well as training sessions during Manitoba film festivals. The DEEP DIVE program is launching with Elizabeth Klinck’s Research Rights and Clearances course at the Gimli International Film Festival.
“FTM is honoured to be partnering with an exceptional group of nationally renowned film professionals that make up the membership of DOC MB. Our meetings and cost-sharing with DOC MB have been outstanding and FTM is a proud membership organization of DOC MB. We’re very pleased to be collaborating on DEEP DIVE,” said Andrew Yankiwski, the Chair of FTM. He added, “This multi-layered collaboration allows both organizations to contribute and invest in the further development of our dynamic film industry.”
During the DEEP DIVE Program, a committee will select three to five Manitoba based documentary film professionals for one-on-one mentorships with senior level members of DOC MB. Mentorships will include the areas of both scripted, unscripted, and factual projects.

FTM is a non-for-profit charity and member of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program (through the Department of Economic Development and Jobs). FTM conducts workforce development and training to build a highly skilled and adaptable film industry to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates with members of the film and television industry to identify the training needs within the community.
