Film Training Manitoba Finalists for HR Excellence Awards 2024

Manitoba’s film training and workforce development organization, Film Training Manitoba (FTM), is a finalist at the CPHR Manitoba’s HR Excellence Awards 2024.

This year, FTM is nominated for the Unity Award. This award is given to those who advance diversity, inclusivity and accessibility at work.

This nomination recognizes FTM’s creation and delivery of Canada’s Supporting Women in Film Trades (SWIFT) Conference. The second SWIFT Conference was held on November 25 and 26, 2023. This past year’s SWIFT Conference keynote address was given by the Former Governor General of Canada Michaëlle Jean.

“We are so honoured and excited to be nominated as a finalist for this award. The work that FTM does is so important and to see the impact feels very rewarding. FTM works very hard to try to help underrepresented Manitobans get opportunities they may not have had otherwise and I couldn’t be prouder of the team.” Said FTM’s SWIFT Co-Chair Tanya Mazur.

The HR Excellence Awards is the CPHR’s most prestigious event of the year and celebrates HR professionals in Manitoba. The event is an opportunity to bring awareness to the Human Resources profession while showcasing the accomplishments of the HR community.

“Canada’s Supporting Women in Film Trades (SWIFT) Conference has become an anchor event for FTM, providing training for women and women-identifying individuals through workplace skill development and networking opportunities with other women professionals. We know this event is highly valued by the attendees and the industry from the growth seen in SWIFT 2023 participants and sponsorships, and we’re excited to continue this growth with SWIFT 2024.” Said FTM’s SWIFT Co-Chair Carrie Wilkins.

Award winners are announced live at the HR Excellence Award gala on April 11, 2024, at The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre (The MET).

FTM is a non-for-profit charity and member of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program (through the Department of Economic Development and Jobs). FTM conducts workforce development and training to build a highly skilled and adaptable film industry to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates with members of the film and television industry to identify the training needs within the community.
