Canada’s Supporting Women in Film Trades (SWIFT) Conference 2023 sold out a month before the event, with nearly 200 people in attendance. The conference evaluations had 99.4% of the participants agreed or strongly agreed that the conference helped to develop their skills in jobs and careers.
The SWIFT conference was presented by Film Training Manitoba and thirty partners, and was held on November 25 and 26, 2023 at the Red River College Polytechnic’s Manitou a bi Bii daziigae building. A second part of the conference occurred on January 6, 2024, with the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, who had to reschedule due to illness.
This ground-breaking initiative aims to increase the number of women and individuals identifying as women working in Manitoba’s film industry.
The next SWIFT conference is scheduled for November 23 and 24, 2024.
