Course Outline:

This two-day course will help the learner gain a deeper understanding of the workflow of post from beginning to end with a special focus on Avid, Adobe & Resolve workflow options & Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve – colour workflow options.

DAY 1

1/2 day classroom – discussion of best practices regarding post production (offline & online)

1/2 day practical – in suite demo/discussion (offline workflow)

  • Avid, Adobe & Resolve workflow options
  • file organization, dailies, syncing, editorial, exports, etc.

Day 2

1/4 day practical in suite demo/discussion of film/television conform (online workflow)

  • Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve – conforming workflow examples
  • proxy to camera original online edit

3/4 day practical in suite demo/discussion of colour correction and final online finishing/delivery

  • Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve – colour workflow
  • discussion of colour correction (balancing/base colour)
  • discussion of colour looks and styles (LUTs, effects, etc.)
  • Examples of and demos of final online finishing and delivery

About the instructor:

Andrew Shire has more than 24 years of experience in the television and film post production industry as an editor and colourist. During this time, Andrew has been at the forefront of post production technology, and has worked on hundreds of corporate, commercial and film projects. An expert in Avid Media Composer, Avid shared production workflows, Adobe Premiere and Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve, he is FRANK’s digital Yoda! Andrew’s understanding of underlying post production infrastructure has allowed him to design efficient post production workflows for feature film studios like FOX, Universal and Sony along with television productions for Sky Broadcasting, CBC, PBS, BBC, Discovery and the Smithsonian.

Film Training Manitoba Course Registration Policy

  • Registrations are non-transferable
  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older to register and attend the course.
  • Participants must register in advance of the course. No drop-ins.
  • Registration is on a first come, first served basis – unless otherwise specified. Enrollment may be limited.
  • Payment in full is required to secure a spot in an FTM course.
  • No Recording.

Cancellation Policy

  • Participants must cancel up to 4 full business days prior to the course start date to receive an 80% refund.
  • No refund will be given to participants who cancel within 4 full business days before the course start date, or if they do not attend the course.
  • Film Training Manitoba reserves the right to cancel, or postpone, any course where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for a course that is canceled will receive a full refund.
