About the course:

Designed for supervisors working in all areas of film, television, web, corporate and commercial production industries, Introduction to Harassment Prevention for Manitoba Media Production Industry Professionals provides a short overview of Harassment and Violence Prevention. The presentation has been customized to reflect the unique workplace safety and health challenges found in Manitoba’s media production industry and includes helpful strategies for supervisors tasked with dealing with these challenges.

To support workers, supervisors and employers in creating a harassment-free workplace. The course will focus specifically on harassment – what it is, what legislation says about it, prevention strategies and how supervisors can properly address it. 

Who should take this workshop
This workshop will be particularly useful to producers, production company owners, employers, department heads, crew chiefs and all those involved with supervising staff.  

Jack Slessor, CHSC, is a Safety Consultant and has conducted safety training sessions in the past for MB’s film and television industry. Jack also reviews FTM’s required online courses with a “workplace safety and health legislation lens” to provide guidance on the course material and resources.  

Jack also provides support and guidance to the workplace safety and health committees in MB’s workplaces and assists them in understanding their roles and responsibilities as outlined in the MB Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations. Jack also provides custom presentations and on occasion will attend committee meetings to provide hands-on support.

FTM is a non-for-profit charity and member of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program (through the Department of Economic Development and Jobs). FTM conducts workforce development and training to build a highly skilled and adaptable film industry to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates with members of the film and television industry to identify the training needs within the community.
