About the workshop Topics to be covered will include: The Canadian Tax System – Basis of Taxation – Allowable Tax Avoidance vs. Evasion Advantages vs. Disadvantages of: – Operating as an employee, Sole Proprietor, Partnership, and Incorporated Representative   How You Can Operate Within The Tax System – As an employee – As a self-employed person – As a member of a partnership – As a representative of an incorporated entity – Learning to win the Paper War: importance of book and record keeping   As well as, why corporations look intriguing, and how to set up and operate a corporation. Tax savings / planning opportunities – using RRSP’s for other than retirement savings and how to maximize deductions. Ending the day with a Q & A. About the Instructor Over the past 20 years, Syd has been employed in private practice as a Tax Accountant, specializing mainly in Tax Recovery. He has a Diploma in Business Administration from Technical College and has received Certification as a Chartered Financial Planner.   • Participants must be 18 years of age or older to register and attend the course.
  • Participants must register in advance of the course. No drop-ins.
  • Registration is on a first come, first served basis – unless otherwise specified. Enrollment may be limited.
  • Registration for all courses, including weekend workshops, must be done between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (except holidays).
  • All registrations must be received and confirmed in-person or by telephone with an FTM staff member during office hours.
  • We do not confirm or accept registrations via email.
  • Payment in full is required to secure a spot in an FTM course.
