Film Training Manitoba supports the professional development of individuals committed to careers in the film industry.
FTM’s mentorship program provides opportunities for on-the-job training for qualified crew, exposing them to professional television or film production techniques and practices.
Through this program, established and experienced crewmembers with an interest in mentoring will help build Manitoba’s talent pool. The program helps the participant build on their knowledge and abilities to do the job of a more senior crewmember and to further develop their networking skills.
Mentorships are designed for people already working in the film and television industry who are seeking a focused professional development opportunity and want to advance in their careers.
The mentorship program is available only to local union members (IATSE 856, IATSE 669, and DGC Manitoba members). All mentorships are approved on a case-by-case basis, subject to industry training priorities that are determined annually.
Film Training Manitoba will administer and monitor the mentorships and will work with production companies and producers to select, coordinate and facilitate suitable placements. All parties will sign a letter of agreement, outlining the terms, mutual obligations and expectations of the mentorship placements.
NOTE: Short films, student films, and commercials are not eligible for this program.
