Straight from Los Angeles, acting coach Ben Davis will be using the Ivana Chubbuck Technique to take participants through a scene study workshop.

Friday Scene Study: Intro Level

Participants will learn to solve acting problems through work on solo, or two-person scenes. Beginning with an in-depth study of the acting text for character behavior and motivation, to be flushed out during the rehearsal process in preparation for performance. Participants will finish day one with notes from Ben and will return on Sunday to do the assigned scene again, implementing the notes.

Saturday Scene Study: Advanced Level

Day two will be a combination of coaching and self-critique, allowing the participant to identify strengths and weaknesses and to grow from there. During class, everyone will present their work, whether it is a solo or a partnered scene.

Sunday Scene Study: Intro and Advanced Levels

The final day of the course will allow everyone to run through the full work of his or her scenes.

About the Instructor

A native of Boston, Ben received his BFA with Honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Ben’s numerous film and television appearances include Criminal Minds, Without A Trace, Heroes, The Comeback, Gilmore Girls, Las Vegas, Six Feet Under, and MAD TV, among many others.  Ben served for a year on the board of the award-winning Zoo District Theater Company. He played the devil in Zoo District’s long running The Master and Margarita. His two solo-shows Big Shot and In Absentia have been performed multiple times in both LA and NYC.

Ben has been privately coaching for the past six years, working and preparing fellow actors to use The Chubbuck Technique for appearances in film and television projects. He has taught intensives in Ivana Chubbuck’s method around the country and in Canada.

Course Refund Policy

• Film Training Manitoba may cancel or postpone courses if minimum registration is not met. Full refunds will be issued.
• A refund, less a 20% cancellation fee, will be given if you cancel four working days before the course begins.
• No refund is given if you cancel within three or less working days before the course begins, or if you do not attend the course.
