The following topics will be explored:

  • Table Read – Scene analysis from both the visual and emotional perspectives.
  • Subtext and Dialogue – The art of listening and the power of
  • Hitting the active/emotional beats of the scene while you’re mentally editing.
  • Planting the seed – Getting what you need in a single sentence or less.
  • Adjustments – Knowing when to ask for what.
  • Applying the technique through directing actors for the camera.

NOTE: This workshop does not require participants to act. There will be actors on hand to assist with the workshop. However, director participants are encouraged to bring their own scripted material to the workshop, otherwise the material will be provided.

REQUIREMENT: Upon registration, you will then be required to submit a résumé and a short description of what skills you hope to acquire during this workshop. This will help the instructor create a more customized course plan. As well, if you plan to use your own scripted material during the workshop, the instructor asks that you also submit this material. All submissions must be emailed to by November 17th, 2014.
