About the Instructor

Alex Kavanagh has been designing costumes for film and television since 1997. Her recent credits include George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Kids in the Hall miniseries Death Comes to Town, and Vincenzo Natali’s science fiction thriller Splice starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. Alex also designed the costumes for the very successful horror films Saw II, III, IV, V& VI and is currently working on Saw VII.

Comfortable with any genre of film or television, Alex enjoys a creative challenge utilizing her theatre training at the Dalhousie University Costume Studies program from which she graduated in 1992. She has designed the costumes for Gregory MacKenzie’s undead romantic comedy Camille starring Sienna Miller and James Franco, Allan Moyle’s Wierdsville starring Scott Speedman and Wes Bentley, and Martin Gero’s romantic comedy Young People F…ing.
