About the workshop
During this three-day course, actors will discover the approach that is the hallmark of the BGB Studio in Los Angeles. Participants will sharpen their craft to a fine point, learn to manage the blocks that prevent them from being a champion in the audition room and get the tools to navigate the business with power. Meisner exercises, cold reading and Alexander technique unlock the power of your artistry. Qi Gong and Buddhist mindfulness offer breathing exercises that allow your preparation and talent to remain present in the most nerve-wracking situations. On-camera audition technique is where it all comes together as actors learn to meet the camera with the full force of their talent. In addition, participants will get frank career coaching and feedback regarding their headshots, reels, resumes and websites. The goal of the workshop is to learn the skills to discover new depths as an actor and bring that new found depth to the industry when it matters most.

About the Instructor
Steve Braun is an acting coach and communication consultant, drawing on many years of acting training, Buddhist practice and martial arts training to help his clients discover and express their unique emotional truth. He has trained both acting and martial arts for 20 years, a journey that has taken him from the ego-driven external pursuit of being rich, famous and tough to the powerful internal pursuit of conquering self through Meditation, Qi Gong and art. Steve has spent the last 9 years training with an ordained Shaolin Warrior Monk, Shifu Shi Yan.

While pursuing an acting career Steve starred in movies such as HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, WRONG TURN 2 and THE TRIP, was a series regular on THE IMMORTAL and TWINS. He guest starred on CSI: MIAMI, CSI: NY, BONES, GILMORE GIRLS, THE CLOSER, NCIS, and THE MENTALIST, among others.

His coaching and teaching clients include lead and recurring actors from WEST WORLD, MR. ROBOT, FEUD, NARCOS, HOMELAND, THE NEWSROOM, CHICAGO LAW, TRANSPARENT, 10 DAYS IN THE VALLEY, MAD MEN, DEXTER, TRUE BLOOD, VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE BLACK LIST, CSI, and CSI: NY.

Whether working with actors, artists of all kinds or politicians, lawyers and corporate types, Steve’s mission is to help people and organizations discover and express their unique voice and bring the totality of their creative power to their work and their lives.

Steve lives in Sherman Oaks with his wife and daughter, is a fervent Winnipeg Jets fan and believes that art can save us all.
