Adobe Flash Lab: Applications & Usages for Media Professionals

In partnership with: Film Training MB, Manito Média, and Loogaroo Animation 

Are you an artist looking to advance your skills in Flash? This workshop will help you to improve your skills and give you an understanding of industry standards. Workshop participants possessing the required skills and passion will have a great opportunity to apply for positions on the third season of Manito Media’s children’s series Canot Cocasse shooting in the fall of 2017.

The Course

During this course, the instructors will guide the participants through the various applications and usages of the Adobe Flash program with the aim of developing the next group of Manitoba based animators.


The creative materials used in the course will come directly from the children’s television series Canot Cocasse produced by Manito Média. All participants will receive an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of a current media production series.

Partners – Manito Média
is an award-winning production company based in St. Boniface, Manitoba. Their team has produced children’s series, documentaries as well as music & variety shows for a wide range of partners including APTN, Radio-Canada, Bell Media and others. Over the last two years, Manito Média has also been producing animated content for its children’s series Canot Cocasse, which is now entering its 3rd season.


About Loogaroo Animation

Loogaroo Animation is a boutique animation agency with a talented group of artists who create cartoons, games, design and advertising.

They offer services for all stages of a project from initial ideas and napkin doodles to final delivery with projects ranging from animated spots to television series.


Instructor Bios:                                                             

Jessica Beckett

Jessica graduated from NBCC Miramichi in 2001 since then she has worked in many capacities and roles in the industry. After starting out working on commercial animation she moved on to layout and background painting. Once mastering those process she moved into the position of producer.

Jessica then joined the Loogaroo team in 2009 as the Lead producer and office manager. She prides herself with client satisfaction and artist understanding. She brings her many years of expertise to Loogaroo in which she combines both artistic and management skills together in a wonderful melding of knowledge. Some of the many projects Jessica has produced at Loogaroo include clients such as Mondo Media, Sesame Street, BBC, FOX ADHD, Chevy and the ever popular Lego brand and so many, many more.

For the last two years she has been producing a live action/animated hybrid show with Manito Media for Broadcast on Unis tv called Canot Cocasse.



Melanie Albert

You want experienced eyes? You got em! Melanie Albert has worked in the animation and games industry for over ten years, on TV shows like Happy Tree Friends, Ugly Americans, Brickleberry and more. She’s worked on apps and games for properties like Strawberry Shortcake, How To Train Your Dragon, Fraggle Rock and tons of others.

She’s been a lead animator, a lead designer, a director, and a game designer. She is now director for the animated half of the TV show Canot Cocasse, and works out of Loogaroo in Miramichi.

Film Training Manitoba Course Registration Policy


  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older to register and attend the course.
  • Participants must register in advance of the course. No drop-ins.
  • Registration for all courses, including weekend workshops, must be done between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (except holidays).
  • All registrations must be received and confirmed in-person or by telephone with an FTM staff member during office hours.
  • We do not confirm or accept registrations via email.
  • Payment in full is required to secure a spot in an FTM course.



Course Registration

Registration can be done in one of two ways:

In Person – cash, cheque, VISA and MasterCard, and debit are accepted. (Please make cheques payable to Film Training Manitoba.) Our offices are located at 100 – 62 Albert Street, in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. We are open to the public Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.


By Phone – VISA and MasterCard (credit & debit) only. Registrations are accepted via the main line at 204-989-9669. *We do not confirm or accept registrations via email.


Cancellation Policy


  • Participants must cancel up to 4 full business days prior to the course start date to receive an 80% refund.
  • No refund will be given to participants who cancel within 4 full business days before the course start date, or if they do not attend the course.

Film Training Manitoba reserves the right to cancel, or postpone, any course where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for a course that is canceled will receive a full refund.
